Cadet celebrates after timely promotion

A Grimsby Air Cadet was last night celebrating after being promoted to the rank of Cadet Corporal.

Cadet Dominic Parry, 15, has been a member of local RAF Air Cadet unit 195 (Grimsby) Squadron for just over 2 years, achieving commendations for shooting, academic success and sporting prowess.

However, his most recent accolade might just be the best to date. Cadet Parry earned himself his non-commissioned officer (NCO) ‘tapes’ after attending a training course and going through a rigorous application process.

Squadron Warrant Officer, Flight Sergeant Matt Bown, said: “At 195 Squadron we have exceptionally high standards for our NCO’s, and only the best make the cut.

“We look forward to continuing Cadet Corporal Parry’s training and to promoting more rising stars.”

Cdt Cpl Parry said: “I’m overjoyed at being chosen for promotion.

“I can’t wait to join the NCO team and take on the responsibilities of a Corporal.”
